The Bali Regional Police recorded 309 foreign nationals involved in criminal acts on the Island of the Gods from January to October 2025.
As context, in 2024, the Bali Regional Police recorded 142 traffic accidents involving foreign nationals, representing a 35% increase compared to 2023. Additionally, in 2024, the Denpasar Immigration Office handled 138 immigration violations by foreign nationals, an increase from 104 violations in 2023.
“There are many incidents and crimes involving foreigners [in Bali]. According to the data, in 2025 [so far], there have been 301 cases involving 309 foreign nationals,” said the Director of Community Development of the Bali Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Suwandi Prihantoro, after a cross-sectoral meeting at the Bali Regional Police Presisi Building in Denpasar on Friday, 31st of October.
At the Friday Sharing (Jumat Curhat) event on the same day, Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya also invited other stakeholders, including Immigration, related agencies, and consulates general from various countries, for a discussion.
“We at the Bali Regional Police feel that we cannot solve the problem by ourselves. Therefore, we are involving the local government. We invite the Head of the Department [from government bodies] and Immigration to carry out our work together, according to our respective duties, for the sake of maintaining Bali to be more orderly,” continued Prihantoro.
In addition to the Jumat Curhat event, all invited parties agreed to continue joint operations to monitor and control foreign nationals in Bali. The consulates, in particular, also agreed to establish liaison officers (LOs) to expedite communication and coordination in order to prevent misinformation that could negatively impact tourism in Bali.
“With Immigration as the ‘leading sector’, the Bali Regional Police, working together with the local government, are conducting joint operations to apprehend violators of foreign nationality,” added Prihantoro.
That said, the Bali Regional Police have also noted that traffic violations and accidents involving foreign nationals appear to be declining this year, with only 98 accidents recorded from January to October 2025.
