Recycle to Rebuild: An Eco-Friendly Guest Engagement by Padma Resort Ubud

Padma Resort Ubud, a premier luxury hotel in Bali, exemplifies how elegance and sustainability can go hand in hand. Embracing eco-conscious practices, the resort sets a new standard for responsible hospitality by protecting the environment without compromising guest experiences.

Since opening in 2016, Padma Resort Ubud has supported the local community in Puhu Village with programmes focused on education, empowerment, and sustainability. Building on last year’s successful English language activities for local children, the resort now introduces “Recycle to Rebuild” for 2024. This initiative, part of PADMA G.I.V.E (Grant, Inspire, Volunteer, and Empower), invites guests to help collect used plastic bottles, which will be sold to raise funds for those in need.

“This year, we’re moving beyond education with a new programme that encourages guests to participate by collecting used plastic bottles. Collection boxes are conveniently placed throughout the hotel, making it easy for everyone to contribute. Our motto, ‘Every bottle counts. Every count matters’ captures our excitement for this project, and we hope it brings positive change to our community,” explained Ms Gusti Ayu Chandra Dewi, Human Resources Manager at Padma Resort Ubud.

She added, “We accept bottles of all sizes, shapes, and colours. Our goal isn’t just to collect these for sale as part of our CSR programme, but to repurpose them and avoid single-use waste. For now, the specifics are under wraps—it’s a surprise we’ll reveal at year’s end.”
