Bali Nightclub Sky Garden Gets Closed

One of Bali’s prominent nightclubs, Sky Garden, has been shut down after claims of unpaid taxes and increasing crime.

Police officers and Brimob members surrounded the club, which is located near the Bali bombing site in Kuta. A sign has also been plastered across the doors to notify of its closure.

The Badung Public Order Agency stated that they closed the club as its operational permit expired on 16th January this year. The police also took time to investigate the five crimes which had allegedly occurred inside the club, namely theft, assault, and sexual harassment. It was also found that the club owed more than Rp 9 billion in unpaid taxes.

“We support the closure of Sky Garden as it has caused restlessness among Kuta residents. Sky Garden had stayed open until early morning, causing too much noise until early morning. People living around the area can not sleep well,” said a spokesman from the local police.

Local regulations have stated that Kuta nightclubs are only supposed to open until 2am. However, according to local residents, Sky Garden had failed to obey the rules and caused disturbance in the neighbourhood.
