The National Police (Polri) have managed to arrest nine suspected terrorists across different regions in Java. This week, the Special Anti-Terror Detachment (Densus 88) arrested eight terror suspects in Central Java, and one in East Java.

National Police Spokesman Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo stated that most of the men who were arrested had links with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“Of the eight people arrested in Central Java, seven had joined combat situations in Syria for more than three years,” he added. All nine suspects are assumed to be members of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), which is also known as the Indonesian branch of ISIS.

Dedi further explained that the group had plans to launch a series of terror attacks, which the Densus 88 operation had been able to terminate.
