A fishing boat is reported to have sunk in waters off Kelapa Dua Island

A fishing boat is reported to have sunk in waters off Kelapa Dua Island, in Thousand Islands regency, after being hit by strong waves.

On Saturday, Head of Thousand Islands Police Criminal Unit, Inspector Fahmi Amarullah said that the boat, which is named Sri Langgeng Jaya, was struck by a big wave coming from the east side of Kelapa Dua Island.

Six crew members jumped into the water and five of them managed to survive. The incident claimed the life of one crew member, identified as Casmidi. Fahmi added that Casmidi’s remains have been returned to his family.
