Two Died, Eight Missing as Ship Capsizes in NTT

The Sunken Boat

A ship with 30 people on board has sunk in the waters off Mageta Cape, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Saturday, claiming the lives of two passengers.

The vessel had reportedly departed from Kalabahi Port at 2.30 am.

“SAR team from Alor has arrived at the location; two people died, according to the report,” said Chief of Indonesian Sea and Coast Guard, Ahmad Husein. Around 20 passengers survived the incident, while eight are still missing.

The incident occurred at 8 am Central Indonesia Time. The team is currently still searching for the missing passengers. The cause of the sinking boat is not yet found.
