Bules Trying Traditional Indonesian Medicine

Indonesia has a plethora of herbal, medicinal drinks and remedies to soothe any aches or pains one might experience.

Jamu is an elixir or concoction of sorts derived from Ayurvedic philosophy. Some tinctures taste nice, and some others not as much. The health benefits of jamu are questionable, but never doubt the power of the mind. So if you believe jamu helps, then it most definitely will.

Kerok, on the other hand, is when someone takes a coin and scrapes your skin to let “bad wind” out. Similar to cupping, it draws blood up towards the top layer of skin and leaves unsightly marks.
