Death Of British Woman In Gili Trawangan Assumed To Be Suicide

Suicidal British Woman

The body of British woman Leslie Jane Goodfellow was found Tuesday, May 2, in Gili Trawangan, North Lombok, after an apparent suicide.

The body was found after Goodfellow’s friend, Australian national Biuyamin Oxducensiler, raised the alarm. Local police chief Iptu Hilmi Manossoh Prayugo said Oxducensiler entered Goodfellow’s rented home after receiving no response.

Oxducensiler rushed to a nearby clinic for medical support. Police arrived to the scene shortly after.

The death is assumed to be suicide based on injuries sustained to the body and a will drafted prior to the death, Prayugo said. Investigations will continue.

“We found a will in which she asked to donate her organs to those in need,” Prayugo said.

Investigations found Goodfellow had become depressed after the breakdown of her marriage.

As of last week, her remains were being kept at Bhayangkara Hospital while the UK consulate office deliberated on repatriation to the UK or undergoing an autopsy locally.

The suicide is not the first in popular holiday spot Gili Trawangan. In 2014, a Belarus national identified as Baronau Dzianis hanged himself in a hotel room.
