With accommodation demand approaching full capacity, InJourney is boosting flight connectivity and camping facilities leading up to the international racing event, Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia (Indonesia MotoGP), that is set to take place in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
InJourney President Director Maya Watono stated that the event, scheduled from the 9th to the 11th of October, is expected to boost the mobility of tourists and spectators from both domestic and international locations. Specifically with regards to connectivity, 66 additional flights are being prepared for the event period, with the majority of these extra flights utilising wide-body aircraft. Additionally, InJourney—through PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (ITDC)—is preparing an Official Camping Ground in the western zone of the Kuta Beach Park area within The Mandalika, Lombok. This facility is set to begin operations on the 8th of October, one day before the event period.
Watono also noted that expanding accommodation and connectivity capacity requires collaboration among InJourney, ITDC, the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government, and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen coordination leading up to the event.
“We are continuously coordinating with all stakeholders to ensure that capacity—both in terms of accommodation and flight connectivity—can be further increased,” Watono explained on Sunday, the 20th of September.
Watono also hopes that the increased flight capacity will provide tourists with more access options while also facilitating smooth mobility.
“These capacity-building efforts are part of the West Nusa Tenggara tourism ecosystem’s readiness to welcome tourists and spectators from various regions and abroad,” she added.
Meanwhile, Ni Ketut Wolini, the Chairperson of the West Nusa Tenggara chapter of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (Perhimpunan Hotel dan Restoran Indonesia or PHRI), stated that accommodation occupancy rates in Lombok have already reached nearly 100% three weeks ahead of Indonesia MotoGP, with the potential for further increases as the event period approaches.
Currently, there are approximately 1,560 hotels and accommodation units across West Nusa Tenggara, distributed throughout various regions.
“An occupancy rate nearing 100% demonstrates the high level of enthusiasm and demand for accommodation in West Nusa Tenggara during the event period,” she remarked.
