A New Chapter Begins: COMO Metropolitan Bangkok

A New Chapter Begins: COMO Metropolitan Bangkok

COMO Hotels and Resorts proudly announces the full reopening of COMO Metropolitan Bangkok this month, marking an exciting new chapter in the hotel’s 22-year evolution and adding a vibrant new landmark to the Central Business District at the heart of the Thai capital.

As part of the brand’s ongoing commitment to contemporary urban living, the hotel’s design — including all 137 rooms and suites — has been reimagined by Italian designer Paola Navone. This Bangkok reopening marks Navone’s second collaboration with COMO Hotels and Resorts in Thailand, perfectly complementing our island property, COMO Point Yamu, on the southern Thai island of Phuket.

Navone’s signature aesthetic evokes a modern sense of place without cultural pastiche. She achieves this through a sensitive balance of local materials — such as wood, ceramic and stone — combined with a confident, playful contemporaneity expressed through form and colour, including oversized woven seat-backs and splashes of Buddhist orange. Textures, including marble, are simple, tactile and luxurious, coming alive in the play of light and shadow. The lobby counter, clad in textured stone with subtle reliefs, draws inspiration from Thai masonry and temple walls, while the patterned bamboo ceiling references traditional Thai screens that filter the tropical sky.

“With our urban properties, I’ve always wanted to create hotels with spirit — dynamic and design-forward,” says COMO Hotels and Resorts’ founder, Christina Ong, who opened her first Metropolitan hotel in London in 1997. “But they also need to be elegant and exceptionally comfortable — places where our guests can retreat from the city to enjoy a pared-back, almost meditative simplicity.

This balance — between lively city living and the serene escapism sought by time-pressed travellers — is also reflected in the hotel’s key offerings, from dining to wellness.

Awarded an eighth consecutive one-Michelin star in the Michelin Guide 2025, nahm, located on the ground floor of COMO Metropolitan Bangkok and led by Chef Pim Techamuanvivit, offers a refined interpretation of regional Thai cuisine. Reservations are essential for this spectacular exploration of the sweet, salty, hot and sour harmonies that define one of Asia’s most complex culinary traditions.

For those seeking something lighter or more familiar — perhaps a comforting classic or a healthy option after a late-night arrival — COMO Cuisine makes its Thai debut at the new COMO Metropolitan Bangkok with an inviting new restaurant on the second floor and a generous all-day dining menu. Developed by Australian chef Daniel Moran, COMO’s Culinary Vice President, together with COMO Group Executive Chef Amanda Gale, the menu features salads, soups, meats and fish dishes, ‘kitchen classics’, sharing plates and children’s favourites. The restaurant also highlights a wide selection from COMO Shambhala Kitchen — a healthy-living concept focused on whole foods that are low in sugar and salt and free from artificial additives. Energising juices are thoughtfully crafted in collaboration with COMO’s in-house nutritionist to nourish both body and mind.

While the Navone-designed lobby and the hotel’s 25-metre outdoor pool invite conviviality, guests can also retreat to the renowned COMO Shambhala wellness centre for yoga and restorative treatments. The centre features ten treatment rooms, a yoga studio, a gym and a hydrotherapy pool.

This thoughtful redesign will attract guests seeking tranquillity in the heart of the city, without feeling disconnected from its vibrant culture. The hotel’s new Iconic Experiences have been curated to immerse guests in Bangkok’s creative and cultural energy. Highlights include a private shopping experience in collaboration with Club 21 — another of Christina Ong’s companies — featuring select boutiques across the city that specialise in highly curated collections of men’s and women’s fashion.

Wine enthusiasts will also appreciate a new Iconic Experience at Monsoon Valley Siam Winery — a bold new venture in viticulture located just outside Bangkok. This immersive journey offers guests the opportunity to discover the terroir and better appreciate the wine pairings recently introduced at the hotel’s Thai restaurant.

The reopening of COMO Metropolitan Bangkok marks a significant milestone in the brand’s continued evolution. “We now have five urban hotels — two in London, and one each in Perth, Singapore and Bangkok. They all share a careful balance of public vibrancy and private calm,” says Olivier Jolivet, CEO of COMO Hotels and Resorts.
