ITDC targets the planting of 10,000 trees in The Mandalika as part of its commitment to sustainable tourism, integrating environmental conservation into every major event in the area.
PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (Injourney Tourism Development Corporation or ITDC) continues to reinforce its commitment to transforming The Mandalika into an environmentally friendly tourism destination. Various tangible measures have been implemented, including the “Journey to Green Tourism Mandalika: Road to 10,000 Trees” programme, which aims to accelerate the area’s greening, support climate change adaptation, and reduce carbon emissions.
ITDC Commercial Director, Troy Reza Warokka, highlighted that tree-planting activities are a priority for every major event hosted within The Mandalika area.
“The tree planting movement in The Mandalika area is not only to green the area but also a form of ITDC’s commitment to caring for the environment in every activity of developing the managed tourism area,” Warokka stated while leading a tree-planting event at Kuta Beach Park on Tuesday, the 31st of December.
To date, ITDC has set a target to plant up to 10,000 trees in The Mandalika over the next few years. This programme has already been incorporated into various previous events, including the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia international racing event back in September. During the event, ITDC involved MotoGP riders in planting trees—a step that, according to Warokka, successfully drew public attention and demonstrated that world-class sporting events can contribute positively to environmental conservation.
Warokka added that this initiative aims to raise awareness among the public, event participants, and partners about the importance of environmental sustainability.
“It is hoped that this initiative can inspire various parties to work together to preserve the environment in The Mandalika area and its surroundings. ITDC believes that with small, consistent steps, a big impact on the environment can be achieved,” Warokka continued.
In addition, as part of its corporate strategy, ITDC, in collaboration with stakeholders, communities, and partners, continues to accelerate efforts in managing sustainable tourism destinations.
“If The Mandalika area is greener, tourists will be more comfortable visiting. And in the end, the surrounding community will also feel the positive impact,” Warokka concluded.
