Indonesian Celebrities Arrested for Alleged Prostitution

A prostitution scandal has emerged after two Indonesian celebrities were arrested by Police at a hotel in Surabaya on Saturday, January 5, for their alleged involvement.

One of them was actress Vanessa Angel, while the other was identified by local media as model Avriellia Shaqqila.

Upon further investigation, the East Java Police Chief Insp. Gen. Luki Hermawan said that police’s Sub-directorate 5 Cyberteam unveiled 45 celebrities and models involved in the so-called online celebrity prostitution practice.

“We have obtained their identities including photos. The tariff they set depends on the level of their popularity. Ranging from Rp100 million, Rp75 million, Rp50 million, and the cheapest is Rp25 million,” said Luki at the East Java Police headquarters on Monday, January 7, according to Tempo.

Investigations through social media showed that Avriellia had charged Rp25 million, while Vanessa charged Rp80 million. Authorities also picked up four witnesses and three other suspects in connection to the crime.

Inspector General Luki revealed that the celebrities are under the “management” of procurers Endang S and Tantri N, both South Jakarta residents and are now named as suspects for the case.
