Indonesian Teenager Arrested for Offering Online Prostitution Services

A teenager in North Jakarta was arrested by the police for running an online prostitution business. The suspect, who is only 17, who was arrested at a North Jakarta hotel was only identified as EGR.
Tanjung Priok Port Police criminal unit chief, Adj. Comr. Moh Faruk Rozi mentioned that EGR was caught after a cyber-patrol team received information about prostitution services being offered via a specific Facebook account.

An investigator, who pretended to be interested in the services was offered a 15-year-old prostitute for Rp 4 million or US $280. EGR then brought the 15-year-old to a hotel in North Jakarta, where the arrest took place. It was later discovered that EGP would pocket Rp 500,000 per girl for one booking. The teenager will be charged under the 2007 Law on human trafficking and the 2008 Law on electronic information and transactions (ITE) which may lead to 15 years of imprisonment.
