Two foreign nationals — a French native with the initials QAAS (37) and a United States native with the initials KLR (62) — were arrested by Indonesian police in connection with a case involving the possession of narcotics in the form of cocaine and marijuana in Badung Regency, Bali.
QAAS is suspected of acting as a dealer, while KLR is believed to be a user as well as assisting QAAS in distributing the prohibited substances.
Badung Police Chief AKBP Arief Batubara explained that QAAS had admitted to obtaining the narcotics from a foreign woman he did not know about 10 months ago.
“The perpetrator’s statement from the initial interlocation result is that the perpetrator admitted to getting all the narcotics from a woman he did not know in the Canggu area, whom he only met once about ten months ago,” said Batubara during a press conference at Badung Police Headquarters on Monday, the 1st of December.
The case was uncovered when officers were securing a ministerial visit in North Kuta District on Friday, the 28th of November. At that time, QAAS was on the roadside acting suspiciously. When officers attempted to question him, QAAS fled, driving recklessly without a helmet or a Motor Vehicle Registration Plate (Tanda Nomor Kendaraan Bermotor or TNKB). Police then pursued and arrested QAAS on Jalan Pantai Bolong, Canggu Village, North Kuta District. During the arrest, QAAS resisted by hitting and kicking police officers.
During a search, officers found evidence including four vape pods containing 85.36 grams of liquid marijuana, one glass bottle containing 11.70 grams of liquid marijuana, one package of cocaine weighing 5.17 grams, and one package of marijuana weighing 7.57 grams.
QAAS was found to have rented a villa for Rp25 million per month and had entered Bali using a KITAS (Temporary Stay Permit) on the 12th of February 2025. A search of the villa also led to the discovery of KLR, who works as a gym trainer in Bali. The two occupied the same villa but on different floors. From KLR’s room, police confiscated three vape pods containing 63.83 grams of THC (liquid marijuana) and two mobile phones.
“KLR’s urine test also tested positive for THC. They are both part of the same network,” added the Police Chief.
