Bali has been named in the top 10 of the best places to live for very little money in 2018 by Panama-based company Live and Invest Overseas.
The Indonesian holiday island came in ninth place, above Vietnam’s Da Nang. Described as one of the most beautiful tropical islands in the world, Bali is regarded as a haven for expats for its wonderful natural beauty as well as its endless choices of bars, cultural events and dining options.
According to Kathleen Peddicord, publisher of Live and Invest Overseas, one of the best areas in Bali is the small town of Sanur, which lies on the southeastern end of Denpasar.
“Quiet and laid-back, Sanur feels far removed from the crowds of tourists who flock to Bali for vacations and honeymoons,” says Peddicord, as quoted by Forbes. “Whatever your budget, you’ll find that you can live substantially better for less money in Sanur.”
An expat couple can live really well in Bali for about US$1,671 a month, the report says.
While Bali and Da Nang are placed low on the list, they are the only two Asian countries that made it into the top 10. First on the list is Lisbon, Portugal, followed by Cali in Columbia and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, respectively.
