Kuta Lombok was the final stop of our trip, after time in Senggigi and the Gili Islands, and it turned out to be the perfect place to end our journey.
Each destination had its own personality. Senggigi felt classic and scenic, the Gilis were all about island life and slow days, but Kuta brought a different kind of energy. It felt youthful, creative, and relaxed, with just enough buzz to keep things interesting.
While in Kuta, we stayed at THE KONKRET Lombok, a modern and comfortable retreat that fit perfectly with the town’s easygoing rhythm, and quickly became one of the highlights of our time there. From the moment we stepped into our villa, it felt like a private sanctuary tucked right in the heart of town. The design strikes a careful balance between minimalism and warmth, with clean architectural lines, natural textures, and a calm atmosphere that immediately invites you to slow down.
Being centrally located meant everything was within walking distance, but what made THE KONKRET stand out was how it blended privacy with accessibility. We could step out into Kuta’s lively café and restaurant scene within minutes, yet once back inside the villa, it felt peaceful and secluded.
Mornings often began slowly. We would ease into the day with breakfast at THE KONKRET, good coffee, fresh fruit, and thoughtfully prepared à la carte breakfast menu options that made lingering at the table part of the ritual. It wasn’t just about fueling up for the day; it set the tone. We’d sit there unhurried, planning which beach to explore or which direction to ride, fully settling into that relaxed holiday mindset.
The real magic of staying in Kuta Lombok is how close you are to some of the most beautiful beaches in the area. Almost every day, we set off on the scooter to discover a different stretch of coastline. The drives themselves became part of the adventure: winding roads, rolling hills, and expansive views where rugged land meets the ocean. Compared to the more developed areas we had visited earlier in the trip, this side of Lombok felt raw, open, and wonderfully untouched.

Each beach had its own personality. Some were wide bays with soft white sand and calm turquoise water, perfect for swimming and simply floating under the sun. Others were more dramatic, framed by cliffs and viewpoints that made you pause just to take it all in. Hours passed easily, walking along the shoreline, cooling off in the sea, or sitting in the shade with nothing urgent to do. Even when there were other travellers around, it never felt crowded. There was space to breathe, and that sense of openness defined our days.
Returning to THE KONKRET after those beach adventures became something we genuinely looked forward to. The private plunge pool quickly turned into a daily ritual. After dusty scooter rides and long hours in the sun, stepping straight into cool water felt indulgent in the best possible way. Late afternoons were often spent poolside, letting the heat fade while enjoying the quiet comfort of our own space. It added a layer of understated luxury that elevated the entire experience.
Inside, the villa maintained that same refined simplicity. The modern, minimal design created a soothing environment that made it easy to relax and recharge. It never felt overdone; instead, everything was intentional and balanced, allowing the natural light and clean lines to speak for themselves. The comfort of returning to such a thoughtfully designed space each evening made every day feel complete.
In the evenings, we would head back out into town on foot. Kuta has a laid-back surf-town feel, even if you’re not surfing. There’s a slightly bohemian atmosphere, with surf shops, cafés, and travellers from around the world who seem to have arrived for a few days and stayed for weeks. The mix of local warungs and more contemporary restaurants gave us plenty of choice, and ending the night with a relaxed stroll through town became part of the rhythm.
What made Kuta Lombok such a strong final destination was the balance. After Senggigi’s resort feel and the laid-back island pace of the Gilis, Kuta brought together nature, good food, and a bit of social energy in one place. You could spend the entire day immersed in wild coastal scenery and still be back in town in time for a memorable dinner, before retreating to the comfort and privacy of your villa.
By the end of our stay, Kuta Lombok felt less like just another stop and more like a place we could imagine returning to for longer. It has that rare combination of beautiful surroundings and easy daily life, and much of that feeling was shaped by our time at THE KONKRET. The comfort of having a private, design-forward villa with our own plunge pool transformed the experience from simply enjoyable to truly memorable.
The beaches and the scenic drives gave us adventure, but it was the atmosphere, comfort, and understated elegance of THE KONKRET that tied everything together. It wasn’t just where we stayed; it became part of why this final chapter of our Lombok journey felt so special.
