Indonesia AirAsia, the world’s best low-cost airline according to Skytrax, has started the year by opening a new international flight route connecting Bali and Da Nang, Vietnam, which will begin operations on the 20th of March 2026.

This direct flight marks the seventh international route served by Indonesia AirAsia from its Bali hub, strengthening the flow of Southeast Asian tourism and providing easier travel access for travellers to enjoy two of the region’s leading tourist destinations.

This direct Bali-Da Nang flight is expected to improve tourism connectivity in the Southeast Asian region and open up access to new destinations that can now be reached directly from Bali. Having previously connected with Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia, Indonesia AirAsia is now expanding its network to Vietnam through an exclusive direct route currently served only by Indonesia AirAsia from Bali to Da Nang, providing more travel options for travellers,” said Acting President Director of Indonesia AirAsia, Captain Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman, in Jakarta on Wednesday, 7th of January.

Abdurachman added that the Bali–Da Nang route strengthens connectivity between Indonesia and Vietnam, including through fly-thru services from Jakarta and Labuan Bajo to Da Nang via Bali. This direct flight further simplifies travel to central Vietnam, while also connecting passengers to Indonesia AirAsia’s international flight network from Bali to several destinations in Australia, including Perth, Adelaide, and Melbourne.

The direct Bali–Da Nang connection opens up more flexible cross-destination travel opportunities for Indonesian tourists visiting Vietnam and Vietnamese tourists travelling to Indonesia. This also applies to international travellers, including those from Australia, who use Bali as a regional travel hub.

“This inter-destination travel pattern is expected to encourage the growth of cross-border tourism while increasing the exchange of international tourist visits to Indonesia and Vietnam,” concluded Sadikin.

Da Nang, Vietnam’s fifth-largest city and often referred to as the “Miami of Vietnam“, is gaining popularity among tourists and on social media thanks to its pristine beaches, modern urban atmosphere, lively nightlife, and vibrant street cafés that offer a visually appealing experience. Located on the central coast, the city also boasts a rich cultural and natural landscape, with highlights including the iconic lantern festival and its role as a gateway to popular nearby destinations such as Hoi An and Hue.

According to data from Vietnam’s National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance, the number of international tourist arrivals to the country between January and November 2025 reached 19.15 million visits, representing an increase of approximately 20.9% compared to the same period the previous year.
