Penglipuran Village to Present Eco-Friendly Cultural Attractions for Christmas and New Year

Penglipuran Tourism Village in Bangli Regency, Bali, is preparing a series of eco-friendly tourism activities to welcome the Christmas and New Year festivities. Visitors will be treated to a variety of cultural performances throughout the holiday period.

The General Manager of the Penglipuran Tourism Village, I Wayan Sumiarsa, stated in a press release that all preparations are underway to ensure travellers enjoy a safe and comfortable holiday experience. Beyond simply adding new attractions, Sumiarsa emphasises that every visit directly supports the preservation of nature, cultural heritage, and the welfare of local residents.

“This year, we’re not only adding attractions, but also reinforcing the message that every visit to Penglipuran contributes to the preservation of nature, culture, and the well-being of its residents,” Sumiarsa said in a press release received by the press on Sunday, the 7th of December.

For this year’s festive season, the village will be adorned with bamboo decorations instead of single-use plastic ornaments, an initiative that also reflects Penglipuran’s distinctive landscape, surrounded by lush bamboo forests. Additionally, the village management has also introduced more organised visitation arrangements by deploying additional service staff, improving parking management, and setting up information points to ensure visitor comfort amid the anticipated surge in year-end footfall.

The other attractive programmes include the Barong Macan Cultural Parade on the 27th of December, 2025, the Tetantria Macan Gading theatrical performance from the 28th of December, 2025, to the 1st of January, 2026, as well as local culinary offerings and acoustic music sessions at the Bamboo Café.

The village management is targeting 2,000 tourists per day or around 722 thousand visitors by the end of 2025.

“Come not just to take photos, but also to maintain cleanliness, respect local customs, purchase local MSME products, and help strengthen the regenerative tourism movement,” Sumiarsa said as well.

Penglipuran Village is a traditional village in Bangli Regency, Bali, and is renowned for its well-preserved traditional lifestyle. Its main attraction lies in the preservation of strong local wisdom, including the neat Tri Mandala traditional layout, the uniform architecture of the traditional houses, the stepped stone streets, and the beautiful environment with its protective bamboo forest. UNESCO has also recognised Penglipuran Village as one of the cleanest villages in the world.
