Danantara appoints renowned international figures to its Advisory Board to enhance investment strategies and mitigate global macroeconomic and geopolitical risks.

The Board of Directors of the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara) announced its official management on Monday, the 24th of March. Several prominent names emerged, not only from within Indonesia but also international figures with extensive experience and expertise in their respective fields.

The foreign nationals joining the board include:

  1. Thaksin Shinawatra, former prime minister of Thailand;
  2. Ray Dalio, founder of private investment management company Bridgewater Associates;
  3. Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, and;
  4. Chapman Taylor, portfolio manager at Equity Capital Group

In addition to these names, other international figures are also involved in Danantara’s management. Among them is Helman Sitohang, former CEO of Asia Pacific at Credit Suisse; Lieng-Seng Wee, CEO & Co-Founder of Dragonfly, New York, who serves as President Director of Risk and Sustainability; Yup Kim, Head of Investment at the Texas Pension System, holds a position on Danantara’s investment committee and portfolio management team, and; Sanjay Bharwani, CEO of Bester & Co, serves as President Director of Human Resources.

Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Pandu Sjahrir explained the rationale behind appointing an international Advisory Board. He stated that Danantara must remain aware of global economic and geopolitical risks when making investment decisions, necessitating the inclusion of international experts.

He also assured that all individuals joining Danantara were professionals and not merely symbolic appointments.

“We are highly conscious of macroeconomic risks, which is why we have an Advisory Board that includes figures such as Ray Dalio and Jeffrey Sachs. Macro risks are increasing, and geopolitical risks are also escalating,” said Sjahrir during a press conference on Monday.

Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara Indonesia) is a strategic investment management agency that consolidates and optimises government investments to support national economic growth. The name “Daya Anagata Nusantara” was personally given by President Prabowo Subianto.
