The Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights will immediately implement a Bridging Visa policy for foreigners.

This policy was conveyed by the Director General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Silmy Karim, in Jakarta, on Thursday, the 28th of March. According to Karim, this policy is expected to make it easier for foreigners who are in the transitional period from processing their old residence permit to a new one.

This Bridging Visa is generally defined as a visa that aims to connect a previous residence permit with a new residence permit that is in the process of being issued.

“The Bridging Visa will be implemented for foreign nationals in Indonesian territory who wish to apply for a Golden Visa. Preparations are in the final stages,” Karim said in a statement to the press on the same day.

The Indonesian Bridging Visa will enforce a validity period of 60 days and apply to foreigners in Indonesia only. This visa cannot be used by foreigners who are leaving or outside the Indonesian territory.

The announcement by the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights regarding the implementation of a Bridging Visa policy for foreigners marks a significant step towards facilitating smoother transitions for foreign individuals navigating the complexities of residence permit processing in Indonesia.

The more detailed criteria and requirements to secure the Indonesian Bridging Visa are yet to be disclosed.
