Airport Tax Increases at 11 Indonesian Airports, 16th July

The Transportation Ministry has revised the rules regarding the entrance of foreign tourists using Circular Letter number 12/2022 concerning guidelines for the implementation of overseas travel by air transportation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Spokesperson for the Transportation Ministry Adita Irawati said this circular was needed so that it could be a reference for airport operators, airlines, and other stakeholders, in the context of operations for handling overseas travellers.

Irawati said that all matters related to travel requirements in the circular refer to the COVID-19 Handling Task Force’s circular number 4/2022, including that a PCR test is valid for two days, the need for a complete dose vaccination, and more.

Previously, in Circular Letter number 11/2022, it was stated that entry points for Indonesian citizens and foreign travellers could only be through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport (Bali), Hang Nadim Airport (Batam), and Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport (Tanjung). However, the newest circular is updated to four airports.

What we need to emphasise is that tourists can enter through the airports at Soekarno-Hatta in Tangerang, Ngurah Rai in Bali, Hang Nadim in Batam, and Haji Fisabilillah in Tanjung Pinang. So there are four airports that are international arrival points for tourists,” she said.

Furthermore, the Transportation Ministry will supervise the implementation with a joint airport task force team consisting of the National Armed Forces and Police, the Port Health Office, airport authorities, immigration authorities, airline operators, and passengers to break the chain of transmission from overseas travellers.
