MRT: Passengers Allowed to Break Fast with Water and Dates during Ramadan

Starting from 6th May a regulation banning the consumption of food inside trains will not be enforced in order to allow passengers to break their fast during Ramadan.

MRT Jakarta’s corporate secretary head of division, M. Kamaluddin announced on Sunday that passengers observing Ramadan will be allowed to consume water and dates onboard MRT trains to break their fast during the holy month.

“Water has less potential to cause a mess compared to coffee or other flavored drinks, which leave stains and cause sticky floors,” he said. Kamaluddin added that dates are okay as the consumption will not leave crumbs inside the train.

Starting from 6th May a regulation banning the consumption of food inside trains will not be enforced in order to allow passengers to break their fast during Ramadan.

MRT Jakarta will announce the new rules across the network of stations and trains. Passengers will also be notified about fast-breaking times whilst they are in transit.
