The Prabowo – Sandiaga campaign team (BPN) has reportedly conducted an internal survey which revealed that the electability of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, and his running mate Sandiaga Uno, has surpassed that of the incumbent Joko Widodo and Ma’ruf Amin.
“Based on the internal survey, Prabowo wins 62 percent of electability, while Jokowi has 38 percent,” said the BPN campaign director, Sugiono, at a meeting in Dharmawangsa Hotel, Jakarta.
Sugiono explained that the figure was obtained from the latest survey last week which involved 1,440 respondents across 34 provinces of Indonesia. He also said that the method used in the study was not much different than that of mainstream surveys. However, he did not reveal the margin of error and number of swing and undecided voters polled in the survey.
According to Sugiono, Prabowo’s lead in their poll is largely attributed to the fear experienced by people. He cited the high prices, weakening economy, leakage of the government’s assets, along with the state budget as some of the factors for people claiming to vote for Prabowo.
While other polls show Jokowi’s lead over Prabowo, Sugiono claims that their survey aims to provide fair information to the public.
“We choose to warn the public that not all information provided by media shows the real condition in society. Many reporters too, have asked us about Prabowo and Sandiaga’s position in the 2019 presidential election,” Sugiono concluded.
