Fashion enthusiasts get ready! Jakarta will welcome up to 175 local and international designers who will be showcasing their latest collections in Jakarta Fashion Week 2018 scheduled to be held October 21 – 27, 2017 at Senayan City.
The event will be the 10th Jakarta Fashion Week Event and, differently to previous years, this year’s event will carry a theme, “Bhinneka and Berkarya.”
“This is the first time JFW is using a theme, it never did before. The works showcased by the designers will really vary, that’s what is meant by bhinneka. There will be ready-to-wear, casual, luxury, premium, as well as accessories and modest wear,” said Jakarta Fashion Week director Lenni Tedja, as quoted by kumparan.com.
As in previous years, JFW 2018 will feature top Indonesian designers Barli Asmara, Jeffry Tan, Toton Januar, Peggy Hartono and Lulu Lutfi Labibi, as well as foreign designers from Australia, India, Japan, South Korea, and England. This year, the event will also boast designers from four new partner countries: Sweden, China, India and Brazil.
From these partnerships, JFW is able to hold various capacity building programs for Indonesian designer to encourage and promote them into the international fashion industry.
In addition to fashion shows, JFW 2018 will also host various talk shows, competitions, exhibitions, and pop-up stores. It will also have a fashion designer competition specifically for menswear in which Indonesian traditional textiles must be used as a compulsory material.
