VFS Global has announced the launch of Mobile Visa Application Centre services for the Netherlands in Makassar, Medan, and Ambon, aiming to bring visa application services closer to applicants residing in eastern and northern Indonesia and eliminate the need for them to travel to Jakarta to apply for a Dutch visa.
Applicants can schedule an appointment for the Mobile Visa Application Centre service in their preferred city when submitting their Dutch visa application online. VFS Global’s Mobile Visa Application Centre service for the Netherlands will be available once a month in Makassar, Medan, and Ambon until December 2026.
In a statement received by the press on Monday, the 21st of September, Anjali Pahladsingh, Head of Consular Affairs at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Jakarta, said, “The introduction of the Mobile Visa Application Centre service in Makassar, Medan, and Ambon reflects our ongoing efforts to expand access to visa services for applicants across Indonesia. By reducing the need to travel to Jakarta, we hope to provide a more convenient visa application experience while ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the visa process.”

VFS Global also emphasised that the Mobile Visa Application Centre service in Makassar, Medan, and Ambon is an optional service designed for the convenience of applicants and is available for an additional fee. Applicants are advised to submit their visa applications up to six months before their planned travel date. The average visa processing time is 25 calendar days, although in certain cases, the process may take up to 45 calendar days. Applicants who do not wish to use the Mobile Visa Application Centre service may still book an appointment at the standard Netherlands Visa Application Centres located in Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bali.
Furthermore, opting for this service does not affect the visa application process or the outcome, as visa decisions remain the sole prerogative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Indonesia.
