Grand Hyatt Bali celebrates its Silver EarthCheck Certification, furthering its commitment to sustainable hospitality in alignment with Hyatt’s World of Care philosophy.

Grand Hyatt Bali, located in Nusa Dua, blends Balinese charm with modern sophistication while prioritising sustainability, wellness, and cultural immersion. Reflecting this commitment, the resort proudly announces its achievement of EarthCheck Certified Silver status, underscoring its dedication to sustainable hospitality. This milestone aligns with Hyatt’s World of Care philosophy, which emphasises creating lasting value for people, communities, and the planet through responsible business practices. With this certification, Grand Hyatt Bali reinforces its leadership in sustainability, integrating environmental stewardship into every aspect of its operations.

Achieving EarthCheck certification was a demanding journey, requiring a meticulous audit of the resort’s practices to meet strict sustainability standards. This process involved reducing energy consumption, improving waste management, and implementing water conservation measures.

The resort met these challenges by fostering collaboration among staff, introducing eco-friendly technologies, and embedding sustainability into daily operations. Regular progress tracking and ongoing staff training were crucial in meeting the rigorous requirements.

Grand Hyatt Bali has made significant strides under the EarthCheck framework. Energy consumption has been reduced by installing energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems. Waste management initiatives, including recycling and upcycling programmes and reducing single-use plastics, have led to a 47.3% decrease in waste sent to landfill. Water-saving fixtures and practices have also been introduced, resulting in a 67.3% reduction in potable water use. Additionally, the resort has engaged with the local community through initiatives such as the Ekowisata Mangrove Batu Lumbang project, supporting biodiversity and sustainable tourism.

Eco-friendly amenities, including biodegradable cassava straws and large-format soap containers, have been introduced in guest rooms. The resort’s lush gardens, including a “Healing Garden” with edible and flowering plants, are maintained using organic fertilisers produced on-site. Improved air quality is another benefit, achieved by minimising the use of chemical pesticides. Guests are invited to join sustainability tours to gain insight into the resort’s environmental initiatives and learn how they can contribute.

These efforts have already made a measurable impact. The resort has achieved a 3% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 2022, earning recognition as a regional leader in environmental performance. Operational efficiency has improved across the board, benefiting not only the environment but also enhancing the guest experience.
