Padma Musical Series returns this high season with a truly exceptional pairing of international classical music talent, welcoming back acclaimed British-Indonesian pianist George Harliono alongside distinguished Korean soprano Hera Hyesang Park.
George Harliono
George Harliono has established himself as one of the most distinctive pianists of his generation. In 2023, he was awarded the Silver Medal at the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition, one of the most prestigious competitions in the classical music world.
Invited to perform his first full solo recital at just nine years old, Harliono has since appeared at some of the world’s leading concert venues, including Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Berlin Philharmonie Kammermusiksaal, Chicago Symphony Center, Suntory Hall, Seoul Arts Center and Singapore’s Victoria Concert Hall.
He made his concerto debut at the age of 12 and has gone on to perform with internationally renowned ensembles, including the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Mariinsky Orchestra, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra and Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
A graduate of the Royal College of Music, where he was accepted at the age of 15 on a full scholarship, Harliono combines a remarkable international performing career with a deep commitment to music education, regularly presenting masterclasses for young musicians across Asia.
Introducing Hera Hyesang Park
Joining George for this special evening is Korean soprano Hera Hyesang Park, one of the most compelling vocal artists of her generation and an exclusive Deutsche Grammophon recording artist.
Park has performed on the stages of many of the world’s leading opera houses and concert halls, including the Metropolitan Opera, Staatsoper Berlin, Glyndebourne Festival, Paris Opéra and Bayerische Staatsoper.
Her acclaimed operatic repertoire includes leading roles in La bohème, La traviata, The Magic Flute, Falstaff, Don Giovanni, Così fan tutte and Le nozze di Figaro. She has also appeared in concert with distinguished ensembles, including the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony, London Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic.
Her debut album, I Am Hera, was released by Deutsche Grammophon in 2020, followed by Breathe, which received the 2024 Opus Klassik Award for Videoclip of the Year.
A graduate of The Juilliard School and the Metropolitan Opera’s prestigious Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, Park has received major international honours at Operalia, the Montréal International Musical Competition and the Queen Elisabeth Competition.
