Padma Musical Series Presents a Night of Jazz with Joey Alexander and Andien

Join jazz prodigy Joey Alexander for an unforgettable night of music at Padma Resort Legian, featuring special guest Andien and an ensemble of top Indonesian talent.

Wynton Marsalis performed at a Jazz at Lincoln Center event, which led to Joey moving to the United States. His 2015 performance on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk, alongside Reuben Rogers on bass and Kendrick Scott on drums, further cemented his popularity and international fanbase.

In the 10 years since then, Joey has been nominated for three Grammy Awards, profiled on CBS’s 60 Minutes, and performed at the Grammys. He has collaborated with country music star Kelsea Ballerini at the Grand Ole Opry and with Esperanza Spalding at the White House in front of the Obamas. Joey has graced numerous world-class venues around the globe.

Joey’s show at Padma Resort Legian last year sold out well in advance. This year, he plans something very special for those fortunate enough to attend. As part of his set, Joey will collaborate with one of the country’s most beloved and well-known performers, Andien.

While Andien is more commonly known for her success in pop music, her first love and performances were in the jazz sphere. To perform some jazz numbers, a genre she holds dear, with one of the greats—and arguably the greatest jazz talent to ever come out of Indonesia—Joey Alexander, in his home of Bali is something very special for her, for us, and most importantly, for you!

Andien’s voice has graced seven best-selling albums, winning multiple awards from AMI (5), Indonesian music-video awards (4), and a Planet Music Award in Singapore. Much in demand as a musical collaborator, Andien has worked with some of the best musical performers: Jeff Lorber at the Java Jazz Festival (JJF) 2005; the Japanese Jammin’ Zeb Ensemble at JJF 2008; jazz great Bob James at the ASEAN Jazz Festival in Batam (2008); Frank Griffith (JJF 2010); and Indonesian piano legend Buby Chen (JJF 2010).

Also joining the event on the 21st of September 2024 will be two exceptional musicians handpicked by Joey Alexander: Kevin Yosua on bass and Elfa Zulham on drums. Together, they complete an ensemble of incredible talent, flying the Indonesian flag high for a night of top-quality jazz that we cannot wait to share with you.

Early ticket purchases are highly recommended to avoid missing out on availability.

The event will take place on Saturday, 21st September 2024, at the Plumeria Grand Ballroom, Padma Resort Legian. The show will begin at 7 PM, with registration and a cash bar available from 6 PM.
