Former Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati will join the World Leaders Fellowship at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, in 2026.

This news marks Indrawati’s new career chapter after her term in the Indonesian government ended, following her replacement by the current Finance Minister, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, in mid-September.

As a World Leaders Fellow at the Blavatnik School of Government, Indrawati will be directly involved in mentoring students and alumni, sharing public leadership experiences, and participating in global dialogue forums on the challenges of modern governance. This fellowship programme is intended for world leaders entering a new phase of public service after leaving government.

Indrawati stated that joining the University of Oxford as a World Leaders Fellow is an important opportunity to share experiences and continue learning. She will hold the Fellowship position for one year.

“It is an honour for me to join the Blavatnik School of Government as a World Leaders Fellow at the University of Oxford—an institution that brings together diverse perspectives to reflect on public policy and the governance challenges faced around the world. I hope to contribute thoughtfully to this community, sharing my experiences while continuing to learn, and to support the next generation of policymakers as they prepare to lead with integrity, competence, and dignity in an increasingly complex environment,” she said in a statement published by the Blavatnik School of Government on the latter’s official website on Friday, the 5th of December.

Ngaire Woods, founding Dean of the Blavatnik School, also welcomed Indrawati to the school’s World Leaders Fellowship.

“We are so pleased that Sri Mulyani [Indrawati] is joining the Blavatnik School to share her rich experience of global economic policymaking. Our students come from over 60 countries around the globe to hone their skills for public service, including elected office, and I am delighted that they will have a chance to learn from her,” Woods said in the same statement.

The Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford, located in Oxford, England, specialises in public policy. It is part of Oxford’s Social Sciences Division, with the goal of training present and future government leaders. The school consistently ranks among the top public policy schools worldwide. Notable visiting scholars include Jacinda Ardern, the 40th Prime Minister of New Zealand, and Amal Clooney, a prominent British international human rights lawyer.
