Bank Mandiri: Jakarta’s Roads Not Suitable for Marathon

Jakarta is no longer fit to host an international-scale marathon.

This is due to the city’s roads not being clean enough to be transformed into a marathon track, according to Bank Mandiri Corporate Secretary Rohan Nafas.

As a corporation, Bank Mandiri has consistently sponsored marathons for the past 10 years, including backing the Jakarta Marathon for the first eight years. However, in the last two years, the bank has focused more on marathon locations outside of Jakarta such as Prambanan, Bali, Mandalika, and Banyuwangi.

“We have moved the marathons out of Jakarta for the last 2 years ago,” said Rohan.

Bank Mandiri is set to hold a marathon festival in Nusa Dua, Bali, on 15th December 2019, together with the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and Bali’s Jasa Marga.
