Accident Rate Over Eid Homecoming Reduced by 88%

The Ministry of Transportation has stated that the Eid homecoming exodus reached its peak on Saturday 1^st June 2019.

The rush lasted for 3 days from 30^th May to 1^st June.

Director General of Land Transportation in the ministry, Budi Setiyadi, revealed in a statement that the number of accidents during Eid exodus this year has reduced by 88 per cent compared to last year.

“In 2019 our posts recorded 220 accidents with 90 deaths. There has been a sharp decline of 88 per cent,” he elaborated. 1,911 accidents were recorded last year during the same period with 691 deaths. From D-day minus 7 to D-day minus 3 of Eid, the figure has fallen by 51 per cent.

The National Police Traffic Corps also recorded 703 traffic accident cases up to D-day minus 3 last year.
