Mayapada Hospital Surabaya Celebrates Its Fourth Anniversary with the Launch of a Modern Vertical Parking Facility to Enhance Patient Comfort

Marking its fourth year of providing international-standard healthcare in East Java, Mayapada Hospital Surabaya (MHSB)—part of Mayapada Healthcare (PT Sejahteraraya Anugerahjaya Tbk, IDX: SRAJ)—has officially inaugurated its Automated Vertical Parking facility.

This latest parking facility is the first modern vertical parking building in both East Java and Eastern Indonesia. This development reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and elevating service quality for the comfort of its patients. It also reinforces the hospital’s dedication to strengthening patient-centred care by ensuring faster, safer, and more convenient access across all stages of the care journey, especially as patient visits continue to rise.

Situated on the western side of the hospital complex, the Automated Vertical Parking facility stands on a 362 square metres plot and reaches 44.2 metres in height. The 17-storey structure can accommodate up to 160 vehicles. Using an automated vertical system supported by two dedicated lifts, cars are positioned precisely into available slots, resulting in quicker, more organised, and stress-free parking. The facility will be fully operational from the 1st of December 2025.

Dr Bona Fernando, BSc, M.D., FISQua, Hospital Director of Mayapada Hospital Surabaya, stated that the inauguration of the vertical parking building reflects MHSB’s commitment to ongoing innovation.

“Automated Vertical Parking underscores our mission to provide modern infrastructure that enhances the patient experience from the moment they arrive until the end of their treatment. With greater capacity and a faster, safer parking process, we aim to ensure patients begin their visit smoothly and without obstacles. This marks another important step towards delivering healthcare that is increasingly accessible and efficient,” he said.

Navin Sonthalia, President Director & CEO of Mayapada Healthcare, added that infrastructure improvements such as the Automated Vertical Parking facility form part of the group’s strategic efforts to meet the growing demand for modern, integrated healthcare services in East Java and the wider eastern region of Indonesia.

“This parking facility is an integral part of Mayapada Healthcare’s transformation towards more advanced, integrated, and patient-focused services. Alongside improving service quality and clinical outcomes, we continue to introduce medical innovations at Mayapada Hospital Surabaya, including advanced robotic technology for Total Knee Replacement (TKR) to support faster recovery. To further ease the patient journey, diagnostic access will soon be strengthened with Digital PET CT and SPECT CT technology, enhancing the capabilities of our Oncology Centre,” he explained.

Since beginning operations on the 22nd of November 2021, MHSB has achieved several notable milestones. This year, the hospital successfully performed the first robot-assisted Total Knee Replacement (TKR) procedure in Eastern Indonesia using the VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution from J&J MedTech. MHSB has also been recognised as a stroke-ready hospital through the prestigious WSO Angels Award from the World Stroke Organization, an international body that evaluates the quality of stroke care worldwide. These achievements reinforce MHSB’s position as a leading referral centre capable of responding effectively to stroke emergencies.

The initiative has also drawn praise from the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, who considered the vertical parking facility a smart solution for an urban centre. In a separate statement, he noted, “Mayapada Hospital Surabaya’s initiative in introducing Automated Vertical Parking provides real benefits, not only for hospital visitors but also for the wider community’s mobility. This is a commendable step that is expected to enhance the quality of healthcare services and public convenience.”

As part of its anniversary celebrations, Mayapada Hospital Surabaya hosted a Health Talk series from the 21st to the 27th of November 2025 under the theme “Experience Elevated, Patient Care Accelerated.” The programme engaged local communities, insurance partners, and corporate clients, and featured discussions on fitness, sports, lifestyle-related illnesses, and age-related conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and joint disorders. The launch of the new Vertical Parking facility was complemented by a parade involving strategic partner BMW Astra and BMWCCI car community members, adding a celebratory atmosphere while supporting the hospital’s ongoing health education campaign.

The festivities continued with the “4th Anniversary & Doctors Gathering” under the theme “Game On! 4 Better Care,” held as a gesture of appreciation for doctors and medical personnel who serve as the frontline in delivering high-quality healthcare. The event also reaffirmed MHSB’s commitment to strengthening multidisciplinary medical collaboration, service innovation, and world-class standards of care.

Concluding the celebration, Dr Bona expressed his gratitude and appreciation. “These four years are the result of the dedication of all our doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals, as well as the trust of the community. Moving forward, we remain committed to enhancing the patient experience through a patient-centred approach, ensuring seamless care coordination, and prioritising quality, safety, and comfort in every service we provide.”
