Deputy General-Secretary of the Gerindra party, Andre Rosiade, has said that Gerindra would not rule out the possibility of Prabowo running for the presidency in 2024.
“In 2024, Pak Prabowo will be 72 years old, so if he remains fit, why not?” Andre said.
However, Andre added that Prabowo might reconsider the matter. If he doesn’t wish to run for the presidency, it would pave the way for the younger generation to have an opportunity to present themselves in the Indonesian political scene. According to him, it’s still too early to talk about elections since the 2019 campaign has just ended. “We will figure out the development and the dynamics,” he added.
Pollster LSI (Lembaga Survey Indonesia) Denny JA has recently predicted that Prabowo would most likely run for the 2024 presidential election. Other names predicted to grace the next presidential election include Muhaimin Iskandar, Airlangga Hartarto, Puan Maharani, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, and Ridwan Kamil.
