Commuter Line Users will be Allowed to Redeem Deposit from Multitrip Cards

Commuter Line of Indonesia

Commuter line users no longer need to worry about having money sitting on their multitrip card (KMT).

Just like the single trip (THB) card, passengers will finally be able to reclaim the security deposit for the KMT, starting from 1st July 2019.

The new rule will allow commuter line users to claim all amounts, including the security deposit of Rp5,000 from their KMT. According to Bank Indonesia’s regulation, this mechanism will end the card’s validity period in which the money can be claimed.

“KMT holders have to understand that once redeemed, the card will be returned to KCI (PT. Kereta Commuter Indonesia),” a spokesperson from KCI said. Those wishing to redeem the money can visit a commuter line station and fill out a form. Funds can be redeemed no later than 14 days after verification. This new regulation will only apply to end the use of the KMT, without affecting other transactions such as buying a KMT or THB, topping up, and tapping in and out of stations.
