PD Pasar Jaya to Make Animal Feed from Jakarta?s Waste

Director of Engineering of PD Pasar Jaya, Dono Pratomo, has announced his plans to process organic waste from 153 markets into animal feed. PD Pasar Jaya currently manages 153 of Jakarta’s markets.

Dono stated that the project will be officially started the fourth quarter of 2019 or early 2020.

According to the company, the environmental division of Jakarta City’s administration charges over Rp 1billion per month to dump 563 tonnes of organic and inorganic waste produced by the 153 markets. Therefore, PD Pasar Jaya decided to come up with its own solution.

PD Pasar Jaya will also collaborate with a slaughterhouse operator, PD Dharma Jaya, to build waste processing facilities. “Why Dharma Jaya? Because it has the land, and the city-owned firm that focuses on managing meat supplies, and also produces manure. This is good for eco-friendly waste processing, because we do not have to incinerate the garbage,” Dono added.

The development of the waste processing facilities is expected to consume about Rp 60billion. However, Dono explained that PD Pasar Jaya will not just focus on the profits. Their main aim is to process waste into something useful, which will not pollute or harm the environment.
