Prabowo Blames Elites for Acquiring Resources; Promises to Bring Rizieq Shihab Back to Indonesia

Indonesian presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto stated that the Indonesian economic system has lost its control, and is currently headed towards the wrong direction. In front of thousands of his supporters in Tasikmalaya, West Java, Prabowo attributed Indonesia’s current poor state to the elites, who have failed in managing the country’s resources. The former army general also claimed that some of the country’s most valuable resources have been possessed by the elites and other nations.

The Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement Party further claims to be well-acquainted with most of Indonesia’s elites, but never confides in them. “I don’t trust the elites. The elites only focus on increasing their wealth, in order to satisfy themselves and their family members. I would much rather communicate with the civilians as they are more honest,” Prabowo mentioned. He asserts that some elites simply could not justify their wealth and their source of income. According to Prabowo, elites mostly make use of civilians to achieve their own personal goals- which he compares to robbery.

Prabowo encouraged his supporters to keep up their spirits, avoid spreading hatred, control their emotions and steer clear of provocation. He also promised to bring Rizieq Shihab, leader of the Islamic Defenders Front, back to Indonesia once he gets to be President. Rizieq was named as suspect in a pornography case back in 2017 and has since escaped to Saudi Arabia.
