Flying to Bangkok for Regenerative Care: The Logistics Nobody Puts in the Brochure

By Vincent Caradec, Co-Founder & CEO, Healthi Life

People in Jakarta and Bali often ask me some version of the same question. Not “does it work?” but “what does the trip actually look like?” The brochure shows a lobby and a smile. It does not show the paperwork, the scans or the week after you land back home.

Stem cell protocols at Healthi Life are given only after a medical consultation and on a physician’s prescription. This article is for general information and is not medical advice.

I run a doctor-led longevity house in Ekkamai, Bangkok, and many of our guests arrive by air from other countries. What follows is the practical side, written for anyone in Indonesia weighing a regenerative trip. It applies to any serious provider, ours included.

Step one: the consultation happens before the flight

A reputable centre does not need you in the city to start. International guests can schedule a virtual consultation before they travel. Use it. The most useful thing it can tell you is whether you are eligible at all. Cell therapy is not suitable for everyone, and learning that from your sofa costs far less than learning it at the airport.

What to send ahead

Prepare one folder, in English, and send it before the call.

  • A short medical summary: diagnoses, surgeries, allergies.
  • Your current medication list, including anything that thins the blood.
  • Recent blood work, if you have it.
  • Imaging reports for the area in question, plus the images themselves on a disc or secure link.
  • Any previous cell-based or injection treatment, with dates.

The physician reviews this to decide what else is needed. Depending on the case, assessment may include blood panels, inflammatory markers and relevant imaging. If your scans are recent, bring them. There is no point repeating a test that already exists.

Imaging: bring it, do not assume it

Reports alone are rarely enough. A physician wants to look at the images. If you have an MRI of a knee from eight months ago, send it. If not, ask which scan the physician would want and where you can have it done in Jakarta or Denpasar, which may save a day abroad.

How long to stay: ask for a dated plan

Do not accept “a few days, depending.” Ask for a written sequence: consultation day, any further tests, the procedure day if you are eligible, and a recovery margin before the flight home. Then add your own buffer. Do not buy a fixed, non-refundable ticket until eligibility is confirmed. Jakarta and Bali are each a few hours by air, so the flight is the easy part. A rushed schedule is not.

The part people forget: after you land

A protocol does not end when you leave the building. Ask what follow-up looks like for someone living abroad. At Healthi Life, follow-up continues remotely, with progress reviews scheduled with your physician. Ask for your records in writing, so your doctor at home can read exactly what was done and when. Read your travel insurance policy too, since some exclude elective procedures abroad.

Be honest about the evidence

The research base is still thin for most orthopaedic and longevity uses. Our protocols are labelled investigational, and outcomes vary. A trip should be a considered decision, not a bet on a promise. No one can ethically promise a result, and in Thailand the Medical Council’s rules forbid it.

Where to start

If you want to see what a physician-led stem cell protocol in Bangkok involves before you plan anything, our page sets out the eligibility step, the licensing framework, the follow-up review and the published prices. Healthi Life is licensed as Healthi-Life Medical Clinic (license 10101003468), and our physicians are licensed by the Thai Medical Council.

I was in intensive care at 37, and my co-founder, Dr. Petch, told me it would not happen again. We built the house around one rule: measure first, decide second, and keep following up. A trip, if you take it, should be organised the same way.
