Discussion on digital hub issue

The field of digital technology has been developing more rapidly within this decade.

Products from this field can now be used in everyday life, ranging from computer applications used to study and work, online games, to fintech and infrastructure. Stretching extraordinary development affects the digital economic sector, which is now rife and is discussed in various parts of the world.

The United States became one of the countries that started this economic revolution with the development of the digital economy in Silicon Valley, San Francisco. Starting with innovation and the availability of digital talent from Stanford University and several other universities, the area has now become the home of the world’s largest technology companies such as Apple, Twitter, Facebook, and Tesla.

In Indonesia, the development of digital economic zones is carried out by Sinar Mas Land in BSD City’s Digital Hub.

Reflecting on Silicon Valley, Sinar Mas Land started this development organically by asking universities to provide a digital talent pool. Now, in line with the development of the Digital Hub, Sinar Mas Land has welcomed various world-class technology companies such as Apple, Huawei, and NTT to have offices in BSD city.”

Building an area such as the Digital Hub, which will later become a home for a community of creative, technological, and digital actors, is one of Sinar Mas Land’s commitments to be a pioneer of a developer company that creates products according to the needs of the current digital era,” explained Corporate Communication and Public Affairs Division Head of Sinar Mas Land, Panji Himawan.

Sinar Mas Land collaborated with The Jakarta Post, the largest English language newspaper in Indonesia, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, the largest audit firm in the world, to examine the development of the Digital Hub Area in BSD City. The discussion took place on Tuesday 3rd December 2019 at The Breeze BSD City.

In this event, CEO of Technology Business-Sinar Mas Land, Irvan Yasni, and PwC Indonesia-Digital Transformation Advisor, Ravi Ivaturi, discussed fostering innovation in the development of the digital economy in Digital Hub. The discussion, led by Business Desk Deputy Editor of The Jakarta Post Prima Wirayani as the moderator, was attended by 80 people from digital-based companies, start-up founders and workers, as well as technology enthusiasts.

The Digital Hub area is designed as an expansive and sustainable tech commerce centre, aiming to provide a platform for Indonesian creators and innovators who strive to have a fantastic future, be integrated with technology, and have full environmental awareness. As part of Economy 4.0, Digital Hub is also prepared to become the leading digital economy hub in Indonesia.
