After becoming a pioneer of SMILE Pro Hyperopic services in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, Mayapada Eye Centre has strengthened its position as a high-tech eye health centre by introducing two flagship innovations: Presbyond Laser Blended Vision and Cross-linking (CXL).
Both services are now available to the public, offering the latest solutions for modern society, from patients aged 40 and above experiencing presbyopia to those with corneal disorders such as keratoconus.
Presbyond Laser Blended Vision is a modern technology designed to free presbyopia patients from reading glasses. Presbyopia is a condition where near vision becomes difficult due to the natural ageing process. This technology enhances vision across multiple distances through a blended vision approach without the need for reading glasses.

“Presbyond is a solution for those who wish to remain active and free from dependence on reading glasses, while maintaining their productivity and quality of life. The procedure is quick, low-risk, and comfortable for mature-age patients,” explained Dr Ucok P. Pasaribu, SpM(K), Consultant Cornea Ophthalmologist at Mayapada Eye Centre.
In addition to Presbyond, Mayapada Eye Centre has also introduced Cross-linking (CXL), a corneal-strengthening therapy that uses special eye drops and UV light to maintain corneal stability and prevent further damage. To ensure maximum accuracy and safety, this service is supported by Indonesia’s first corneal biomechanical assessment technology using the Corvis ST device, enabling doctors to thoroughly assess corneal strength, stability, and elasticity before determining the most appropriate therapy.
“This CXL therapy has been proven effective in stopping the progression of keratoconus, thereby helping to prevent further visual impairment. Cross-linking helps keep the corneal shape stable, prevents complications, and can delay or even avoid the need for corneal transplantation in the future,” stressed Dr. Ucok.
