Shaping Futures with Purpose at ACG School Jakarta

In a city as dynamic as Jakarta, families rightly seek a school that is both academically rigorous and genuinely future-focused. At ACG School Jakarta, “the future” is not a distant horizon but a daily reality our students are already shaping—through inquiry, creativity, and purposeful action.

As a Cambridge and IB World School serving learners from Early Years to Year 13, we are committed to holistic education: developing young people who are open-minded, responsible, and caring; entrepreneurial in outlook; and confident users of technology.

Growth with Purpose

Our strategic direction is clear: to provide the best small-school experience with big-school opportunities. The next phase of development includes upgrading science and design facilities (with a dedicated physics laboratory and enhanced makerspace capacity), extending green outdoor spaces, and refining digital infrastructure to enrich blended learning.

“At ACG, we combine the warmth of a close-knit community with the ambition of global opportunity. Our plans for expanded science facilities and digital innovation ensure our students have every advantage as they step into the future.” – Myles d’Airelle, Principal

Cambridge and IB: A Seamless Pathway

From the Early Years, we cultivate the dispositions of the IB Learner Profile—curious, principled, and reflective—alongside the subject depth and clear progression of the Cambridge framework:

  • Primary and Lower Secondary: Cambridge provides firm foundations in literacy, numeracy, and scientific thinking.

  • Years 10–11: IGCSEs offer internationally recognised qualifications and subject breadth, enabling students to explore their strengths.

  • Years 12–13: The IB Diploma Programme equips students with the academic and personal skills sought by universities worldwide, through Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service.

This pathway blends knowledge with critical thinking, research, and compassion—preparing graduates to succeed both in study and in life.

Excellent results open doors; excellent guidance ensures students walk through the right ones. At ACG, university and careers education begin early and develop progressively across the school.

“As the school counsellor, my goal is to help students and families navigate the diverse pathways available worldwide and provide support throughout the research and application process. I collaborate closely with parents, teachers, advisors, and the leadership team to assist each student and cohort from IGCSE onwards, ensuring they matriculate at the university that best suits their strengths and needs. Through guidance on subject choices and extracurricular activities, I help students gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their passions, and their ambitions, so they can make the best possible decisions about their future.” – Brian Chesher, ACG School Counsellor

  • Years 1–9: Students develop curiosity and self-awareness through projects, service, and leadership.

  • Years 10–11: Guidance focuses on subject combinations linked to future pathways, with workshops for students and parents.

  • Years 12–13: Personalised counselling intensifies, with essay and personal statement support, scholarship advice, and interview preparation.

Our philosophy is clear: the “best-fit” university is where a student’s values, strengths, and ambitions align with opportunity.

Destinations and Why They Matter

Recent graduates have secured places at universities such as:

  • University of Manchester & Durham University – renowned for Business and Management studies.

  • University of Sydney & University of New South Wales – leading institutions for Medical Science.

  • Newcastle University & University of Toronto – prestigious choices for Mechanical Engineering.

“Final destinations are chosen with careful consideration and discussion. Ideally, students select universities that align with their strengths and aspirations. This alignment is central to the ACG School counselling philosophy.” – Brian Chesher, ACG School Counsellor

Careers Education from Early Years to Year 13

Careers education at ACG is embedded into daily life, not treated as an afterthought:

  • Inquiry-led projects address authentic challenges in sustainability, health, and innovation.

  • Digital fluency grows progressively: coding, data literacy, and design thinking.

  • Enterprise and innovation are encouraged through clubs, pitch events, and mentoring.

  • Workplace exposure ranges from career days and guest speakers to shadowing and internships in the senior years.

  • Leadership opportunities abound across the House system (Elang, Harimau, Komodo, Pari), student council, and service programmes.

By Year 13, students hold not only strong academic results but also a portfolio of authentic experiences demonstrating readiness for the future.

“After only a year at ACG, I have been given ample opportunities to build my leadership, organisational, and collaboration skills. Being part of the student council has especially allowed me to grow not only as a student but also as a future professional. The support ACG provides has strengthened my preparedness and equipped me with the skills required for university and beyond.” – Zavier H.

“ACG has been such a welcoming and supportive community throughout my IB Diploma journey. Their guidance and encouragement have given me the confidence to pursue further studies after graduation.” – Vanessa Rae

A Human-Centred Approach

While we use data to track progress and personalise support, students are never reduced to numbers. Advisory systems, strong parent partnerships, and reflective practices ensure each learner is known, challenged, and cared for. Diversity is embraced alongside unifying traditions, fostering respect for others and for the environment.

Partnerships with Purpose

As part of the Inspired Education Group—a leading global family of premium schools—ACG students benefit from international collaborations and extensive alumni networks that open doors worldwide. Locally, our partnerships with universities, cultural institutions, and businesses bring relevance to learning and create genuine pathways for study and work. These links also enrich teacher professional growth, ensuring our practice remains innovative and aligned with both IB and Cambridge standards.

An Invitation

Choosing a school means choosing a partner in your child’s future. At ACG School Jakarta, we take that responsibility seriously. We are proud of our small-school warmth and large-school ambition, where every student is known, supported, and inspired to grow into a confident global citizen.

We warmly invite families to join us at our upcoming ACG Jakarta Open Day on Friday, 26 September 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. It is the perfect opportunity to visit our campus, meet our teachers and students, and see first-hand how our future plans—across facilities, programmes, and guidance—translate into everyday experiences that shape extraordinary young people.
