The government explores partnership opportunities with BTS to elevate Indonesia’s tourism appeal during the group’s 2026 Jakarta concert.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is currently formulating a strategic plan to collaborate with K-pop group BTS to promote Indonesia’s tourism sector. This initiative coincides with the group’s scheduled visit to Jakarta for their world tour concert on the 26th–27th of December 2026.
The Acting Deputy for Event Organiser Development at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Vinsensius Jemadu, stated that the Ministry is seeking to engage BTS in promoting Indonesian tourism during their visit.
“How can we participate, not just exploit, but collaborate to promote Indonesia through this BTS concert? At the very least, our tourism potential and culture can also be promoted together with BTS,” Jemadu told the press on Wednesday, 18th of February.
To support this initiative, Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana has instructed her team to coordinate immediately with the promoter, iMe Indonesia. This initial step aims to establish an effective collaboration framework to maximise BTS’s substantial fan base, both domestically and internationally.
Several collaborative strategies have been prepared to enhance Indonesia’s tourism exposure globally. These include:
- A Familiarisation Trip (Famtrip) programme for BTS or their team to visit destinations beyond Bali, broadening international awareness of Indonesia’s diverse tourism offerings.
- An introduction to Indonesian culinary specialities that BTS could experience and showcase during their visit.
Should BTS’s visit be limited in duration, the Ministry has stated that it will prioritise promoting Jakarta’s attractions, including its cultural heritage and tourism experiences available in the capital.
The government believes that BTS, as global pop culture icons, possess significant media reach and fan influence. Leveraging their visit is therefore expected to help raise international awareness of Indonesia’s tourist destinations.
