Minister of Transport: Make Flight Prices Cheaper over Eid

Airplanes in Indonesia

Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, has ordered airline companies to offer more affordable prices for domestic flights, especially during Eid holidays.

“We urge airline companies to offer more reasonable tariffs for domestic flights to the public,” Sumadi added.

Recently, the ministry of transportation had lowered the tariff for domestic airfares by between 12 to 16 per cent. A 12 per cent drop has been applied for the busiest routes, including in the Java region.
The reduction in domestic flight prices was decided in a coordinated meeting by the Economic Coordination Ministry, which agreed to change the upper limit tariff (TBA) for domestic flights.

The decision will be also reviewed every three months, as major changes could affect the air transport business, especially sustainability in terms of climate and business profitability.

Polana Pramesti, Director General of Civil Aviation in the Transportation Ministry, stated that despite the 12-16 per cent price reduction, the ministry continues to prioritise safety, security, and flight accuracy.
