Drivers and pedestrians were shocked after unexpectedly seeing a porn video at a traffic light in South Jakarta.
Earlier today, drivers in Jakarta were caught in what was probably their most unexpected experience on the streets in the capital. A digital billboard – which usually shows normal advertisements – suddenly displayed hardcore porn for a few minutes before authorities finally turned it off.
A spokesperson for South Jakarta’s public information office claimed that the video was immediately taken down after their office began receiving complaints from the citizens.
“We received the reports [about the porn video], then we immediately shut down the electricity there,” said Lestari Ady Wiryono in a statement to Kompas.
The video showed a man and a woman getting intimate. Within seconds, locals at the traffic stop broke the news via social media. Netizens responded in disbelief, with some criticizing the government’s censorship of public service media (mostly tongue-in-cheek complaints).

As of right now, it remains unknown who the person behind this act was, or if it was even intentional. Wiryono said this case should be handed over to the city’s tax department, which is responsible for monitoring billboard content.
“If the billboard is over 24 inches long, it should be under the supervision of the tax department in DKI Jakarta, and not the responsibility of the province,” Wiryono added. “The third party, or in this case the person who rents the digital signage, is the one who presents content based on the tax department’s permission.”
While the videos are hilarious, and can be found on social media, we’ve chosen not to show them here, as it would be in poor taste.
Is this really the government’s problem, or should we just pretend like it never happened? Sound off in the comments below.
