Kota Tua Jakarta area, located in Taman Sari District, West Jakarta, has been temporarily closed due to the filming of an international film, which, according to speculations currently rampant on social media, stars the personnel of K-pop group Blackpink, Lalisa Manobal (Lisa).

The Kota Tua Jakarta Area Management Unit announced this information via its official Instagram account, @kotatua.jkt. During the filming process, the Kota Tua area will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, the 28th of January, starting at 3 PM local time. The temporary closure would be continued until the following Thursday (the 29th of January) at 6 AM local time.

“In support of an international film production, as well as Jakarta’s vision towards becoming a Cinema City by 2027 and the 500th Anniversary of Jakarta, the Government of DKI Jakarta is facilitating a filming activity in the Kota Tua area. Therefore, a temporary closure of the Kota Tua area and traffic engineering measures will be implemented,” wrote the Kota Tua Jakarta Area Management Unit on an Instagram post published on Wednesday, the 28th of January.

Without disclosing the film’s title or the names of the cast, the closure of the Old Town area sparked speculation among netizens on social media, who suspected the filming was related to the film Extraction: Tygo, starring Lalisa Manobal (Lisa), a member of the South Korean idol group Blackpink.

Meanwhile, several road sections in Tangerang City, Banten, have also been temporarily closed for four days, from the 28th to the 31st of January. It has been speculated that these temporary road closures were also in support of the filming of the same project currently taking place in the Kota Tua area.

“Yes, Korean actors are filming. The diversion will only last a few days,” AKP Prapto Laksono, Head of Public Relations for the Tangerang City Metro Police, told the press on Wednesday as well.
