This month marked an exciting milestone for Karma Group as we proudly hosted our inaugural Coffee Masterclass at Sarang Lounge, Karma Kandara.
Designed as an immersive journey into the world of speciality coffee, the event set a new benchmark for experiential beverage programming across our properties.
The Coffee Masterclass brought together three of Asia’s most respected experts: globally acclaimed Singaporean barista Ryan Tan, World Siphon Champion and three-time Singapore Barista and Latte Art Champion, alongside world-level competition judges Kammie Hui from Hong Kong and Sutinee Amornpatanakul from Thailand.
Participants were fully immersed in the rituals of coffee preparation, with hands moving in rhythm alongside the experts, steam rising from perfectly calibrated milk, and the delicate choreography of latte art unfolding beneath their fingertips. Classical brewing methods were paired with structured cupping techniques, while conversations flowed as freely as the espresso.
This strong sense of community lay at the heart of what made the masterclass so resonant. Sarang Lounge became a space for meaningful dialogue between experts and enthusiasts, where curiosity met expertise, and guests evolved from passive consumers into active participants in coffee culture.
For me, curating this experience represents an important chapter in our ongoing mission to elevate beverage culture within the brand. Coffee is no longer simply a drink; it is an evolving craft shaped by technique, terroir and storytelling. Creating a platform where guests can engage, learn and connect through these elements reflects the direction of our F&B philosophy.
The masterclass also signals Karma Group’s ambition to develop a recurring series across its properties, celebrating artisans, expanding knowledge and enriching guest experiences through the universal language of great coffee.
