Indonesia Design Week (IDW), the flagship event of Indonesia Design District (IDD) PIK2, returns this year from the 12th to 20th of September 2025, for a nine-day celebration of the diverse and dynamic world of design.
This annual event embodies IDD’s broader vision to evolve beyond a commercial retail destination into a vibrant creative playground and collaborative ecosystem for designers, architects, and the broader creative community.
As the largest design and furniture centre in Indonesia, IDD aspires to be a catalyst for creativity by offering an inclusive space that actively connects industry players, fosters collaboration, and drives sustainable growth. In line with this vision, IDW serves as a platform that unites local and international perspectives—highlighting how design functions as a universal language that connects ideas, communities, and cultures across borders.
This year, IDW 2025 adopts the theme “Ideantity”—a term combining “idea” and “identity,” encouraging the design community to rediscover and amplify Indonesia’s unique character through design. More than just a theme, Ideantity reflects Indonesia’s growing role in the global design conversation—not merely as a consumer, but as an active contributor. It reinforces IDW’s mission to define a distinct and confident Indonesian voice on the international stage. Just as cities such as Milan, London and Tokyo have built lasting legacies through their design weeks, IDW offers a fresh perspective shaped by its regional context, cultural diversity, and openness to global dialogue.
IDW 2025 is supported by BNI as the official banking partner, providing visitors with seamless cashless payments and convenient transactions throughout the event. Main sponsors Snaidero, SMEG, BOSCH and KOHLER further underscore Indonesia’s emergence not only as a design destination but also as an innovative collaborator on the global stage.
Beyond brand-led partnerships, IDW also offers a platform for local designers and creative collectives to present thought-provoking exhibitions that express identity, spark dialogue, and push the boundaries of conventional design. These showcases highlight the experimental and conceptual side of Indonesian creativity, reinforcing the country’s position as a hub for emerging design perspectives.
To nurture deeper engagement within the design industry, IDW features a series of signature programmes, including Design Talks hosted by Design Anthology in Market Hall. These sessions invite visitors not only to learn from global design leaders but also to participate in shaping its future.
This year’s festival promises to be especially remarkable with several notable highlights. Among them is the presence of Marva Griffin, Founder of SaloneSatellite, who will join the dialogue, alongside Laura Kohler, Chief Sustainability & DEI Officer of KOHLER Co., who will share her expertise as the festival places a strong emphasis on sustainability.
Meanwhile, Townhall, the design installation hall, will host a range of cross-disciplinary collaborations and showcases. Highlights include SMEG x Museum Macan, KOHLER interactive installations, and AHEC x Studio Hendro. The space will also feature the signature Millimetre Manifesto exhibition, spotlighting the works of nine Indonesian product designers united by their shared belief in the subtle power of design, making Townhall a hub for both experimental and collaborative design experiences.
To inspire and empower the next generation of designers, IDW will run guided insight tours for design firms, creative communities, and university students. A dedicated student exhibition will further spotlight emerging talent through innovative projects that reflect bold ideas, experimental methods, and fresh perspectives on creativity.
Bringing a playful twist to the festival, Firm Office Grand Prix—Indonesia’s first office chair racing competition—returns for its second year. This light-hearted event blends creativity and fun, offering a unique way to experience design in motion while fostering camaraderie among participants and spectators alike.
Adding to the festival’s dynamism, Market Hall will also feature Niskala Raga, a sports and wellness clubhouse designed by the creative duo Bobos and Dzha. With a padel court at its heart, the space blends creativity, sport, and contemporary lifestyle.
In collaboration with Indonesia Contemporary Art & Design (ICAD), Emporium Marble, and Saniharto, IDW will present ICAD By The Bay, showcasing works by more than 60 artists across art, design, and fashion. A special highlight includes the collaboration between Saniharto and Ghea Fashion Studio, presenting a home collection that seamlessly fuses heritage craftsmanship with modern aesthetics.
At Mandapa, visitors will also discover Artisan Alley, a curated craft and design marketplace featuring 51 participating artists and artisan brands. This programme celebrates the richness of Indonesia’s creative heritage and contemporary craft scene.
As part of its wider programme, IDW 2025 will support a meaningful cause through Sip & Tip, hosted by BIKA Living. Designers and brand owners will step behind the bar to serve food and drinks—with all tips going directly to support Merawat Papua communities.
Endorsed by the Ministry of Creative Economy (EKRAF) and supported by leading media partners, including Design Anthology, Dezeen, Indonesia Design, ARCHINESIA, and MRA Group, Indonesia Design Week embodies a strong collective commitment to raising design standards and fostering sustainable growth.
From immersive exhibitions to interactive workshops and thought-provoking conversations with industry leaders, IDW 2025 is about making design accessible, engaging, and inspiring for a wide audience.
