Chevening Scholarships

The applications for Chevening Scholarships for the academic year 2020/21 have been opened by the British Embassy in Indonesia.

The scholarship offers full financial support for students wishing to pursue their postgraduate degree at any UK university, by covering their tuition fees as well as living costs.

The new British ambassador for Indonesia and Timor Leste, Owen Jenkins, will officiate the application process for the new academic year. “Chevening Scholarships target those with the potential to become leaders, decision-makers, and opinion-formers who will make a positive contribution to their country’s development,” the ambassador said.

Jenkins further added that the Chevening scholarship grants one the opportunity to learn from top universities in the UK and explore the country’s rich history. Upon finishing their degree, the awardees will also be entitled to join numerous activities conducted by the British Embassy in Indonesia and fellow Chevening alumni.

Awardees are expected to have good leadership skills, a strong academic background, and a minimum of two years of work experience. The application deadline is 5th November 2019. Notable alumni of the Chevening scholarship programme include national police chief Tito Carnavian, author Ahmad Fuadi, actress Marissa Anita, and filmmaker Riri Riza.
