Blue Bird group has confirmed that it has taken disciplinary action against one of its drivers caught on video scolding a foreigner in Jakarta on Saturday.
The video, which has quickly gone viral, shows the furious driver yelling angrily at the foreigner using broken English and Indonesian, following an apparent accident between the taxi and the foreigner’s car.
“Do you think I am afraid with you? This is Indonesia you know, think, think, think,” the driver shouted. “No England, no USA, you know. I am no crazy, you crazy”.
The driver also demanded that foreigner pay for the damage caused to the bumper of his taxi. The foreigner, whose vehicle plate was that of a diplomatic car, seemed busy with his cell phone, ignoring the driver’s antics.
Blue Bird Group spokesperson Teguh Wijayanto said that the company regretted the actions of the driver who he said did not behave in accordance to “Blue Bird’s service culture”.
He explained that the incident has been resolved amicably by both parties involved. However, he said that the driver involved has been reprimanded for his action.
“The driver has been questioned and has been sanctioned accordingly,” Teguh said on Monday, as quoted by Kompas.com.
Teguh said that, judging from the damage, it is likely that the car grazed against each other causing damage to the right side of the taxi. However, he declined to go into too much details of the incident to avoid further trouble.
