Excise revenue from beverages containing ethyl alcohol (minuman mengandung etil alkohol or MMEA) dominated customs and excise receipts in Bali during the first nine months of 2026. The segment generated Rp940.2 billion, accounting for 87.8% of total customs and excise revenue.
Overall, customs and excise revenue in Bali reached Rp1.07 trillion by September 2026, equivalent to nearly 68% of the annual target of Rp1.57 trillion. This figure represents an increase of approximately 6.66% compared to the same period in the year 2025, when revenue stood at Rp881.5 billion.
“Excise revenue from MMEA dominates customs and excise receipts in Bali, contributing 87.8%,” Supendi, the Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury, said on Wednesday, 4th of November.
MMEA is divided into three categories based on alcohol content: Class A (up to 5% alcohol), Class B (5%–20% alcohol), and Class C (20%–55% alcohol). In addition to MMEA, excise revenue was also supported by tobacco products, which contributed Rp16.6 billion, and other excise categories, which generated a further Rp7.7 billion. Revenue from tobacco products also increased compared to the same period in the year 2025, when it reached Rp11.3 billion.
Meanwhile, import duty revenue in Bali stood at Rp105.2 billion, down from Rp109.36 billion recorded during the same period in the year 2025. As a result, total customs and excise revenue in Bali reached Rp1.07 trillion as of the 30th of September, 2026.
“Import duty revenue in Bali up to the third quarter of 2026 reached Rp105.2 billion, which is lower than the Rp109.36 billion recorded during the same period in 2025,” Supendi added.
This increase in customs and excise revenue was also supported by the number of foreign tourists visiting Bali throughout the year 2026. According to data from Statistics Indonesia (Badan Pusat Statistik or BPS) Bali, the cumulative number of international tourist arrivals between January and September 2026 reached 5.23 million.
Bali Governor Wayan Koster noted that international tourist arrivals on the island had remained stable, with an average of 19,000 to 24,000 visitors arriving daily by air alone. This figure does not include international tourists arriving by cruise ship.
