Singaporeans Receive Prison Sentences for Smuggling Lobster Larvae

Two Singaporeans have each been sentenced to three years in prison for attempting smuggling lobster larvae from Jambi to Singapore and Vietnam.

They were also ordered to pay a fine of Rp1billion (US$70,110).

Singaporeans Than Chen Chu Feng and Ten Cheng Ying Kene were caught smuggling with two other Indonesians; Hasan and Bagio Tjandra. The Indonesians were sentenced to two years imprisonment each, and a Rp1billion fine.

They were charged under Article 16 of Law No. 31/2004 on fisheries. All have been declared guilty for distributing and removing species and cultivating fish outside of Indonesian territory.
